Kevin had started working on this piece in 2023 before he passed away. His friend and mentor, Lloyd Gawura Hornsby, has lovingly completed the painting, using the sketches Kevin had left of his plans for it. Lloyd had invited Kevin to come and spend the day painting with him, but due to his failing health, this never happened. In completing this painting for his friend, Lloyd and Kevin have been able to achieve their dream to paint together, just not in the way either of them had imagined. This is Kevin's only original painting that is available for sale.

Artist Statement:
The Yuin people are the traditional owners of the Wallaga Lakes land. For thousands of years they roamed the lower ranges and coastal flats, living off the rich abundance of food around the lakes waterways and oceans.
Water is core to life for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Protecting and managing water is a custodial and intergenerational responsibility. If the cultural and spiritual values of water are sustained by providing water that is sufficient in both quantity and quality, then many other components of Indigenous life will be healthy.
We have this relationship, this invisible connection to water, with spirit, culture, songlines, our dreaming, Rivers form tribal boundaries, are travel highways and provide food.
